WSOP Sat July 2009 Structure Announcement

The third Saturday of each month, starting in July 2009, we will have a WSOP Sat trny at 3pm....same $35 buyin ($5 per person or $50 going to 2nd place), same blind schedule with the goal of completing the sat before the evening trny starts.  There are 10 saturdays from July till April 2010, the winner earning a seat in the May final table.  We want to award two players $1500 (1st and 2nd) at this table.  If a player earns more than one seat to the final table we ask that first consideration be given to a regular at the value of the seat ($300).  If no takers, then it's totally OK to sell to an outsider to the group.

Same structure....games will alternate between Paul's and Jon's houses, with an evening trny to follow.  This schedule allows for others to plan/schedule games on the remaining 3 saturdays each month.

So we're keeping things exactly the same as this year's series?   


To make this, I'll have to play the 1st Flight of the HPT Main Event Friday night - coming back for Day 2 Sunday morning...that could be a helluva poker weekend!

I usually like to stay up there the whole weekend, but we'll see...can we not make an exception for July's tourney and push it to the 4th/last weekend??? That way we're entirely clear of the WSOP and HPT schedules.

Yes, we decided to keep the same structure as last year.....it was simple, fun and worked out well for all who participated.  We also wanted to only schedule one poker night (consistently on the third Saturday) per month for financial reasons (last year got expensive having two per month) as well as freeing up other Saturdays for others to host games and so that families can plan vacations and other events.  I'm hoping that Steve P, Steve R, Dex, Ian, John and Dani and others will host games this year as well.

No matter what schedule we put out, there will be conflicts.  If you do play the HPT, can you request to play in the Friday flight and then on Sunday?  We'd like to accomodate everyone, but no matter what day we plan on there will be conflicts.  By announcing that it will always be the third Saturday of the month we hope that we can minimize these conflicts.

yeah, they "draw" for your initial seat/flight - but it's always possible to trade with someone to get the flight you want, if the initial draw doesn't go your way. I'm not too worried about that part - the driving up/down the hill was what I was trying to alleviate...


I understand wanting to keep things simple, and totally appreciate the once/month schedule...I was kinda hoping we could put together a straight-forward points system though - we had some good ideas in that other thread.

I'm playing regardless...it WAS fun, and this is one of the better poker groups I've played with.

Just to clarify.....there will be two final tables in May 2010.  One for WSOP Satellite winners and one for the evening trny winners.

We have a lot of demand for this year's WSOP....and we've had a lot of cancellations as we get closer to the Sats.....it's important that if you have interest and the table is already full to go ahead and post your interest to be put on a reserve list.  This month (July), Paul and I went through 5 reserves to arrive at a full table, so sign up for the reserve list asap!  It remains first come, first serve!

I'd like to throw out the idea that, if we can consistently get 10 reserves each month, the option of having a May Champions Trny larger than just one table of 10.  If we end up with 14 champions, then we start the May trny with two tables of 7...etc....   Obviously, this hasn't been the case so far, but we are booked through Oct as right now. 

On a side note.....We realize things come up and it's not always possible to forsee a late cancellation.......we only ask that when signing up for a seat at a trny....please be sure that you can commit.  Things do happen that make it necesary to cancel....and thanks for the advance notice.  Try to plan, in advance, as much as possible so that we can insure a full table each month.

July was a lot of fun!  Nice to be back to a regular schedule.
