That's part of the reason I won't play those huge field tourneys. You play great poker for several hours, get inside the top 5% of finishers only to realize you're only earning $3 per hour (that is, unless you make the FT or you're playing a $10+ buy-in).

I like to see, at a reletively small cost, how deep I can go....I figure its good practice with regard to patience. Plus, the payoff is very nice if you can make it to the final table or even win like Jeff or David have done. The WSOP is not a 10 person sit-n-go and those type of trnys just don't prepare you for some of the large fields at The Rio, Caesars or Venitian.
Anyway, and more importantly, the challenge is fun and I enjoy having a poker game to play in more often than our once a month games.....I'm getting close and hope to break through soon!

Nothing like what you guys are playing for...but just took down a MTT on ESPN Poker Club (free). Won enough points to play all 3 qualifiers on Sunday, where I only need to make it into the top 25 to qualify for the final tournament in May. (winner of that wins a package to the WSOP Academy - and I think there's a way to win something there into the WSOP Main Event somehow)
baby steps...

So annoying, 4 hours in and lose a 70/30 then 3 consecutive coin flips where I held underpairs AIPF. Ugh. Close, but no cigar.
For those of you that don't mind staying up late, this tourney is pretty great on Stars. It's the $11 $7k guarantee at 9:15pm. Usually gets over 1,000 runners and the play is horrid. It's also 6 handed which ratchets up the action quite a bit.

I love this tourney, I have actually won this one twice. People just give away chips when they are 6 handed, its ridiculous. Nice work though, keep going and you will break through.

I have noticed 6 handed does play a lot looser as well.....good job, David. Always nice to cash, no matter how small!
