Howdy,

I am curious to get feedback, bad and good, on the various MTT's up the hill.

I have gone to the web pages to see the schedules, but that is only part of what one needs to know.

Which are the better run tourneys? Which are poorly run? Action? Obviously weekends are the best , so what would be a good weekday to go up?

All opinions are valued here as I want to branch out my live tourney experience.

Thanks and keep flopping monsters!

only played 1 Sunday tourney up the hill.  That is the 1 and only time I've played up there.  I can't even remember the name of the casino, the buy-in, the amount of players, or what the payouts were. I do know it was before the new looser gambling laws went into effect.

I guess I could give you some advice, but it wouldn't be worth a thing.

I know a couple others go up the hill from time to time, but from what I hear they primarily only play cash games.  Sounds like the cash tables are pretty nice now, but I've never experienced it for myself.

a lot of info in the great action at GG thread.......as far as trny's go, most have only 20 min blinds up the hill.....structures are such that you are in push mode way too fast.

If you're looking for a great trny, give ours a try (posted under Home Games).  We run 30 min blinds, 5000 starting chips, very relaxed blind structure....and we don't take a rake!

i would second both the reply's........i played the htp at gg.  won a sit-n-go to play the qualifier.  sit-n-go was terrible.  don't get me wrong, i'm glad i won but the structure sucked!  got good cards and thats that.  the htp qualifier was pretty nice though.  340$ buy-in though.......

i only have played the 2-5 spread limit for cash up there.  when/if i get a job i'm sure i'll try the new limits, but that could be awhile!

not sure where you live, but i'm guessing these home games are closer than the hill.  they are the best run home games i have ever been to and have friendly vibe and structure to boot!

I really don't like poker.  I just hang around on this site because of the wicked cool people, so you'll have to ask someone else about the UTH tourneys.

the thing about structure is that people generally get it all wrong when it comes to what a "good" structure is.  So many people like to get caught up in how many starting chips there are....while a big starting stack is nice for the first hour or so...it generally means very little in the late stages of the tournament.  And where is all the money in a tournament? at the final table...generally the top three places.  This is my biggest complaint about the tournies up the hill.....no play at all late, you can be chip leader at the final table and not even have 25BB so skill pretty much goes out the window.  If the would just shorten the starting stacks by say 25% or so, and add in about 2-3 levels in the middle to late stages, these tournaments would be a whole lot better, and from the casino's perspective, take about the same amount of time.

Also check out the rake, it can be as high as 25%, and then they expect you to tip the dealers on top of that? Angry

Not saying they can't be fun....just know what you are getting into before you plop down your buy-in.

Personally I think you will find better value playing the 1-2-100 cash games.
